I was kicking it with a few friends yesterday who are pretty into fat dub beats. They showed me an artist named Koan Sound, who definitely makes dubstep music, but it is different from your standard Skrillex-ish dub. It uses original base lines and slower beats that are sure to keep your head bobbing. It's not too intense either, as Koan Sound keeps some of their tracks right below the threshold of headbanging music, but there is still some melodic substance to the tracks. Here are two of my new favorites from Koan Sound, "Mr. Brown" and "Trouble in the West".
These next two tracks are a little old, but many of you probably have never heard them. A dope old track is just as good as a dope new track in my opinion.
"Damaged" (Blinding Lights Remix) by Plummet is from 2011, but the vocals never cease to uplift me.
"Up in the Club" by Terravita is a classic. I've heard it played live many times by other DJ's because it gets the crowd so hyped. Turn up the bass on this one, trust me.
