Funky Fridays Vol. 13
Breaking into the month of August means summer is beginning to be talked about as something that is withering away. I always hate that, it totally undermines the great month August always is. So I say we all live in the moment and get funky shall we?
Fire Flowerz (not to be confused with Firebeatz) has a great electro funk edit of this Herve original "How Can I Live Without You". I really am pulling for Fire Flowers to make their way out of the underground world when they do work like this:
Fools Gold Records just came out with their second installment of Fools Gold Clubhouse which is essentially a fully downloadable EP of tracks from their 'young guns' if you will. The first volume was great and this second one seems to raise to that occasion:
This next record makes me think of Chromeo... or maybe Dean Winters? Who knows, it's late, I'm delirious:
You ever think I could pull off some trap on Funky Friday? Well, I'm forcing the issue cause my man Baauer is in town this Sunday and the old school bassline on this trap track exudes funk. Yes, I know it's short, trap is generally that way. Deal with it:
As we part for the weekend, I salute you with this Fukkk Offf remix of "Quarantine". It teases the line of what is funky because it goes pretty hard but I still include it because it pushes into that funk headbop which is always my requisite:
