Wobble Wednesday
I wish I made that logo above... that's exactly what I hope my audience does to my dub songs when I post them. Morph into tropical Wompzilla on a skimboard on Wednesdays. I've got a few nice tracks for you bassheads out there, all of them new. I'll get right to it.
First track, "Move Closer", is by DC Breaks. It features very quality female vocals with electronic melodies and synths, but retains the Wompzilla sound that dub promises.
This second one is from a previously VCH featured artist, Delta Heavy. They broke into the game with the widespread enjoyment of their "Must Be the Feeling" remix, and their new track "Get By" continues the same success. Listen for the beautiful vocal build up and try and tell me the drop doesn't put you in tropical clothing on a skimboard.
Batting third.... Adventure Club. "Wait", the newest single from this young gun duo. I don't remember the last time I heard a bad Adventure Club song.
Keep it Trilla.

Oh Sh*t I Forgot to Blog on Saturday, Sundays!
Ted Townsend here, APOLOGIES to the team and readers for not delivering that GOOD GOOD yesterday. I have tunes for you today, I'm stoked to share 'em with you, I think you'll like! I have a handful of tunes and mixes today; coming from Mark Mendes, Walden, Kim Fai, Wally Lopez, Eric Prydz, Avicii, Robbie Rivera, John Carr, and a preview video for the new Toolroom Records Ibiza Volume! Get your headphones, hook up speakers, do what you need to do, to get ready for some amazing house music listening! Usually, I give paragraphs on each track I post, but today I have a plethora of selections I've chosen and I'm just going to let you readers click the play buttons. I will say briefly: Avicii's new unreleased was aired on Hardwell's "On Air Podcast" and sounded too great I had to share. Wally Lopez coming in with a new pop sounding track, but excellent if you ask me. Yes, where the hell has Mark Mendes been lately? His set is ridiculous for DJ Mag, earns a gold star from me. John Carr... yeah I'm not surprised if you don't know him, but after some research, he sounds like quite the experienced producer. I'll be excited to hear more from him, especially after this Armada release I got for you all today. Robbie Rivera's veteran - self... with yet, another banger. Remixing Forever Young - who doesn't like that song?? Kim Fai one of my favorite - new remix out! Love this guy, great DJ/Producer, Toolroom Knight... need I say more? Speaking of Toolroom Knights, enjoy the preview video at the end, I would purchase if I were you, sounds like a collection full of bangers! John Walden's young, Australian ass, with a May mix for you, this kid is going to blow up even more. Eric Prydz's new album is amazing, don't believe me? Check out his track "Allein" from it. Enough ranting? Click the play buttons and enjoy people!

Funky Friday Vol. 4
As just about everyone is out of school and my final days here in Spain wind down I think we all could use some more warm weather tunage. Hopefully as we go into Memorial Day weekend you all will take these tracks as your tools to correctly enjoy the official start to summer. So with no further adieux, I give you happy house:
Download La Zebra Stay With Me
Codes is a Brooklyn boy that specializes in nu-disco but varies all over different spectrums and shows plenty of promise with records and remixes like this:
Download Solidisco Hooked (Codes Remix)
We had a VCH pow wow about when and where to put the new single by A-Trak and Dillon Francis, "Money Makin". It could go under plenty of sections but above all things this is a song that will put you in a good place:
Download A-Trak & Dillon Francis Money Makin' (Original Mix)
Oliver continues to grow in relevancy as what seems to be at an exponential rate. The sound is just really fun and catchy but shows membrants of true creativity:
Download Foster the People Don't Stop (Oliver Remix)
Never heard of Daze until the other day but surely after this remix you should expect to hear more in the future:
Download Bertrand Burgalat Munich Expo (Daze Remix)
The Thin White Duke aka Les Digitales aka Stuart Price aka Jacques Lu Cont again proves he is back in the game after his recent tracks "Reload" and "Church" comes this awesome remix to the John Dahlback original, "Take This Thing Back" (what better fitting of a title, huh?):

Mixtape Thursday: Festivals galore!
It's Thursday and this week's edition of Mixtape Thursday is just packed with amazing sets from EDC in New York and Sensation Innerspace in Czech Republic. But before that, here is a little homemade edition of Mixtape Thursday, fresh out of the oven last night. Instead of just posting sets from festivals, I felt a personal mixtape every few weeks would add that little personal touch to our Mixtape segment. Check out the sets from EDC and Sensation after the jump!

Bassnectar's Wobbles
After a 2 week hiatus I am back with some newish Bassnectar. Bassnectar, or Lorin Ashton, is based in San Francisco, CA. He credits Metallica, Megadeth, and Nirvana for his original early influences. Lorin also was into ambient and trippy music, which he also incorporated into his own music later on. He released his album "Vava Voom" in April, which contains 11 new tracks that all have some original wobbles. For all you Bassnectar fans out there, you know that he almost never lets you down when it comes to music. He never ceases to produce new dubstep that contains original wobble sounds. I would suggest grabbing the entire album, but I've got a few of my favorite tracks below:
Here is "Ping Pong", which features a super original ping pong paddle sound that turns into the tempo for the song.
"Vava Voom" features Lupe Fiasco, marking the first collaboration between the two. I like Bassnectar and Lupe on their own, and together they are fresh.
"Do It Like This" feat. Ill Gates is a filthy track. It has an Alien sound to it... you'll know what I mean when you listen to it.
Download the whole album, it's damn good.
Here's the full tracklist:
1. Vava Voom (ft. Lupe Fiasco)
2. Empathy
3. Ugly (ft. Amp Live)
4. Ping Pong
5. What (ft. Jansten)
6. Pennywise Tribute
7. Do It Like This (ft. ill.Gates)
8. Laughter Crescendo [2012 Version]
9. Butterfly (ft. Mimi Page)
10. Nothing Has Been Broken (ft. Tina Malia)
11. Chronological Outtakes
2. Empathy
3. Ugly (ft. Amp Live)
4. Ping Pong
5. What (ft. Jansten)
6. Pennywise Tribute
7. Do It Like This (ft. ill.Gates)
8. Laughter Crescendo [2012 Version]
9. Butterfly (ft. Mimi Page)
10. Nothing Has Been Broken (ft. Tina Malia)
11. Chronological Outtakes
Also this song is NASTY. Check out What So Not.

Pop Quiz:
So Saturday at EDCNY around 6pm you were faced with a very interesting decision: Do I go to the Alesso at the main stage or Gareth Emery at ASOT (a state of trance) stage. It may seem to be an obvious decision. Alesso of course. But looking a little closer Gareth Emery crushed it harder than a Bulgarian during a Clean and Jerk Session (too high of context again?). You decide.
Option 1: Alesso
Option 2: Gareth Emery
Is it okay if I just jizzed my pants? I hope so caus Maison & Dragen just made a wet dream.

Electro Madness Mondays: Six to Midnight Edition
Unless you have been living under a rock, (which is totally chill btw) you might have noticed Electric Daisy Carnival came to our very own MetLife Stadium this past weekend. So for all you electro freaks Sunday was your day. Specifically, our favorite 6 foot 7 inch Grey Goose Crushing Dutchmen was tossing around some seriously naughty beats.
And did I mention that the dude is a straight bau5 on the decks, he leads you in one direction, teases you a little and then says no your coming with me to the promise land.
Here are some extra tunes to help you keep it extra naughty.
Beejay's created a nice Daft Punk feel with this track. Get riled up, its okay. and side note a lot of really big names were paying homage to their predecessors by dropping a daft punk track in their sets.

Mixtape Thursday: DOUBLE DOSE ft. The Partysquad and Dada Life
This week to celebrate the coming of summer break, Vaya Con House is giving you a double dose of some hard-hitting mixtapes from The Partysquad and Dada Life.
The Partysquad dub themselves "eclectic" at the beginning of this mix. I guess I would concur with that statement. The epitomize what the Mad Decent crew is all about: breaking the boundaries of electronic music sub-genres and allowing themselves to implement all forms of music. This mix touches on everything from electro to dubstep to tech-house to disco to.... wait for it... hip hop. Yes, I said it. This is what Open Format is all about.
Dada Life is always coming at you hard with no sympathy. These guys have become some of the premier mastheads not only for Swedish DJ's but electro house in general. Famous for their heavy synths and grimey basslines in their tracks, this mixtape carries the signature Dada Life sound. Prepare yourself for plenty of sausage fattener in this mix... bass is heavy and meaannnnnn:

Aggressively Progressive 5
Here at VCHxAPT we try to have the tracks that we post be frankly the dopest tracks out at the time. We take pride in the fact that if you listen the the tracks on APT you will not be left in the dark not knowing the words to some ridiculously awesome song being played at Electric Daisy Carnival. So do yourself and your friends a favor and stay up on your shit and listen to the aggressively progressive tunes for this week. Remember don't be that guy....play it loud.
First and foremost is a new track from Sweden's house music version of Lionel Messi from the 08' world cup (too high of context?)....yup you guessed it, Alesso. Our young Swedish friend just released a killer remix of Kean's "Silenced by the Night" Song is huge and is gonna be played A LOT during festival season.
Next is a AVB produced progressive BOMB. Its his first real progressive track since the sublime Twilight Remix from a while back. "We are here to make some noise" really makes me want to go destroy a dance floor or fuck some shit up hehe. enjoy
Extra Credit: Which of the next two tracks has a larger progressive element to it?
Answer: I don't really care I just want to forget about the world and dance.
(both are must downloads)
I leave you with the famous words of the black eyed peas:

Electro Madness Mondays 2
What's the point of electro house? I feel it serves two very import purposes for the average rave baby:
1. when listened to loud enough it causes the listener to move uncontrollably (thumbs up!)
2. Turns your breath into fire #firebreath
The first time i heard Julian Jordan was on Hardwell's On Air (which is an hour of fucking madness) and i swear i was like this must be Hardwell and r3hab's long lost son or somthing. "Oxford" and "Rock Steady" are two crunchyy bass masterpieces.
"1234"is the brainchild of Laidback Luke, Chuckie and Martin Solveig.Dont kill me guys, I know this was released a week ago. But the song is genius it captures some straight house bouncy feel and makes it a really killer track to dance to.
And last but not least is a straight face melter from the face melter extraordinaire Gregori Klosman and Chuckie
don't be afraid

Wobble Wednesdays
Hello everybody, today I've got some wobbly tracks for you. We're featuring Major Lazer, Flux Pavilion, Nero, Delta Heavy, and Milo & Otis. House music consumes our lives on a daily basis and it makes it hard sometimes to remember the fine electronic sounds of dubstep, but that's why we're here to bring you the dubby sounds each Wednesday. Turn up the bass and enjoy these fresh new tunes.
First I've got a great new remix from the well established artist Nero. He consistently puts out great tunes each month. No surprises here with these two solid wobblers. Here's his remix of "Dressed to Digress".
Here's Delta Heavy's semi-old remix of "Must be the Feeling". There are literally a hundred remixes of this track, but Delta Heavy is a relatively new artist, and this remix literally drops the wobbles too hard for your ears. Straight energy...
Third, I've got a great track from Major Lazer and Flux Pavilion, "Mr. Marshall". If you are a wobble fan you know those two artists never fail, literally. This track is no exception. You will feel the bass flowing through you.
And, ladies and gentlemen, lastly, here's Milo & Otis new track "Friendly City". It has a Moombah-esque beat that features vocals off of Justice's classic track "We Are Your Friends". This song will really surprise you on the drop, since you rarely hear Justice music remixed into upbeat dubby wobbles. This one is a must download.
One of the newest members to the Mad Decent team, Paper Diamond, is really proving himself now as a producer rather than just a good listen live. This new record "Can We Go Up" shows his feel-good dub style that is sure to become a household name amongst bassheads:

Here at VCHxAPT we believe when EDM is adopted as a way of life, you begin to float above your bed in your dreams like the young lady up there. Just saying. AKA go to festivals this summer.
Eric Prydz, the headliner for the HUGE IDentity festival rolling through the states this summer, dropped this fresh little snippet from his upcoming 37 track album. Actually i love it. I want this track to be playing in my head at all times.
Second Carl Louis and Martin Daniell, CLMD, were sneakily on Tiesto's Club Life 264 and I was just like "What is this wonderful sound entering my ears?" nice vocals powerful synths, on point all around. What more can ya ask for.
Take a ride with Morten Breum. flawless production that will take you on a Journey.
Shena and Daryl Green round out APT for this week with a very solid progressive chune. Super uplifting.
Sorry about the media player. Soundowl was being a cockblock.

Electro Madness Mondays
Okay, now I gonn and did it. There are too many crazy elecro tunes sitting in my secret reserve for me to keep them under wraps any longer. facemelting 101 class is in session. Don't be afraid to turn i up a little louder than usual, I said it was okay.
1st assigment, r3hab remixed by non other than the darkest of bros. Darth and Vader and out "Dyro's" Dyro whipping a crunch baseline that definitely gave me a boner.
R3hab - The Bottle Song (Darth & Vader Remix)
Chris Brown, David Guetta and R3hab make for a dope tune, but sounds eerrrily similar to the Darth & Vader mix. I wonder who stole who's genius.
David Guetta, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne - I Can Only Imagine (R3hab Remix)
Tony Arzadon comes through with a killer remix. Try not to fight it. It will win.
Dero - Acid Door (Tony Arzadon Remix)
Extra Credit: Which duo has the most appropriate name in EDM?
Firebeatz of course. the duo plus JoeySuki throws out some fire for your aural enjoyment.
JoeySuki, Firebeatz - Reckless (Original Mix)

Legends Never Die
Yesterday we lost one of the most influential figures not only in hip hop but also in all music. Adam Yauch aka MCA of the Beastie Boys died of cancer and reaction of the music world was immediate. There was nobody more innovative to music world than the crew of 3 white party boys from Brooklyn. I would love to have you tell me someone who had a sound just like these guys. They changed the expectations for music with the idea of refusing to stick within regulations of one music genre which I believe resignates in what we see today in the evolution of music. So Adam, I raise my glass of brass monkey to you, drink up. We know you will watch over us and make sure good music continues to survive and advance itself.

Funky Friday Vol. 2 & Conversations with Viceroy
I know that I have gone rogue for a little while here but I have returned to the grid to satiate your disco needs. And as a consolation present we have some new Viceroy material for you as well as a few questions he was generous enough to answer for us. But before we get to understand the man that is Viceroy, let me start you off with some warm up funk to brush of the dreary New England cold that is going on right now (I feel bad saying that while its 70 and sunny in Barcelona again). A couple of these tracks came as surprises to me solely for the reason of who made them. But I guess nowadays the idea of limiting yourself to one genre of dance music is just not an option.
Chuckie has been identified by his fans as a Dutch House and Electro House icon. But why not get funky every once in a while?? Check out his fun little 54 minute funk mix, I love it. It shows how interconnected the guy is amongst EDM sub-genres:
01. Coqui Selection – Dissko (Original Mix)
02. Marco Lys – Can’t Get Enough (Original Mix) 03. House Of Venus – Dish N Tell (Juan Sanchez & The Man With No Shadow Remix) 04. Blue Boy – Remember Me (Hoxton Whores Remix) 05. UAP – BiMac (The Cube Guys Mix) 06. Danny Serrano & Hector Couto – You Crazy (Original Mix) 07. Jay Lumen – Babel (Original Mix) 08. Chus Lamboa & Dani Del Rio- A Night In Chicago (Original Mix) 09. My Digital Enemy – Enter Floripa (Original Mix) 10. Makossa & Megablast – Soy Como Soy Ft. Cleydys Villalon (D-Nox & Beckers Remix)
Who's ready for some Kill The Noise?? Yes, you heard me. The savvy dubstep artist can boogie too. "Perfect Combination" is all the proof we need:
Download Kill The Noise Perfect Combinaion
Now for a more believable artist to be producing feel good types of records. Fire Flowerz new work, "Offensive Language" has a disco feel but much more vibrant than your typical smooth funk:
Download Fire Flowerz Offensive Language
Night Drugs, Oh Shit! Yea that's the artist not my words... but lets dance!
Download Night Drugs, Oh Shit! Everybody Needs (Night Drugs Re-Edit)
John Dahlback has always been much more of a big room house guy but I always had a feeling he could rip up a dance floor with some bright music like this recent single "Start Lovin You":
Download John Dahlback Start Lovin You
This couldn't be a Friday Funk post without some Treasure Fingers. New track from the man, you know it's good before you even listened to it:
Download Ladyhawke Black White And Blue (Treasure Fingers Remix)
As disco revives itself once again into relevancy through its new form, nu-disco, there have been some young artists carrying the torch and spreading the word of this awesome sound. Austen Afridi, or his stage name, Viceroy, is one of those rising figures demonstrating to the world that electronic music isn't just meant for dark places to dance until 5 AM (which is still great don't get me wrong). But it can also incorporate feel good music that makes you want to shed off the winter clothing and flock to the beaches. As a Trin alumn, he's exploded on the disco scene in just a year after graduation (must be feeling pretty boss going back to his fifth year high school reunion...). We were able to catch him for a second to get to know how this whirlwind of an adventure all came to be:
Vaya Con House: What got you into DJing and Producing? Love at first sight?
Viceroy: Music has always been a big part of my life. About 2 and
half years ago I started to become interested in EDM. I was studying abroad in
Rome and drunkenly asked the manager of this club the first week I’m there if I
can have a job DJing. Surprisingly
he said yes, gave me my own night every week, and told me to bring lots of
American kids. The next week I started learning basic DJ techniques with Ableton
because I had no idea what I was doing. The party was a hit. I started making
mashups. That went really well
during college then in February 2011 I got sick of mashups and started Viceroy.
The rest is history.
VCH: What equipment did you start out on?
Viceroy: In Rome I started with two audio tracks in the session view
of ableton one as A and one as B. I literally had no idea what I was doing but
somehow it worked. I now use CDJs with serato.
VCH: How did you find the sound that has pulled you away from
the pack today? What were the inspirations behind your sound?
Viceroy :I think the sound found me. I wasn’t always specifically
into feel good music, but I just kept being introduced to nu-disco and French
house and I realized that’s what I wanted to make. What sets me aside from the
rest of pack is I don’t label my self as a genre, but rather a season: Summer.
That way I can try a bunch of different genres and stay true to that feel good
summery style. Expanding your
markets is key in this day and age especially with all these new producers out
there.
VCH: You use a good amount of funky samples in your songs, how
do you find them and how do you know when one is going to fit well in your
track?
Viceroy: So I started out making sampled house music, which is fine,
but gets old. I now work with just synths, however, I just did a track with WhiteNoize
that’s sample based however I wrote a bassline and we played it on a vintage
jazz bass. Now if I told you where I got my samples that wouldn’t be any fun.
VCH: What is your producing process and when are you confident
that the song is finished?
Viceroy: I usually start with drums, then whatever comes to mind
next. I usually create the entire chorus before anything else then I strip away
from there to make other parts of the song. A track can take a few hours if an
Idea hits me immediately or several weeks if I’m struggling.
VCH: Like most guys I’m sure you have plenty of tracks in your
back pocket ready for release but are just waiting for the right time to
release them, does it ever make you anxious?
Viceroy: I have a single right now finished and a few more I’m
waiting on vocals for. You have no idea how anxious I am to release this first
single because it’s the most catchy/best thing I’ve done yet.
VCH: Is there a club you enjoy playing at the most? Or maybe a
certain context you enjoy spinning at the most (pool party, nightclub,
radiomix, etc.)?
Viceroy: I LOVE pool parties. It doesn’t get any better than them. They are outdoors in
nice weather, the girls are looking great, no rave babies in site, and who
doesn’t like to crush champagne at noon?
VCH: Looking back from Trinity did you ever see this rapid
success coming?
Viceroy: No not at all. I was planning on doing this on the side for
fun and didn’t expect this all to happen within a single year. It’s pretty
insane.
VCH: Do you think you’ll ever come back to Hartford and maybe
spin one night at a frat or maybe spring weekend?
Viceroy: You know I’d love to. I still will have friends there next
year, so maybe for tropical? Very
fitting for me right?
WORD ASSOCIATION:
Vinyl: classic
Summer: all the time
Disco: timeless
Macho Man Randy Savage: a true bro
West Coast: best coast
East Coast: my 2nd home
Hipsters: contradiction
Cinco de Mayo: cinco de drinko
The Future of Viceroy: no one knows
If you haven't listened to any Viceroy then shame on you. I'll forgive you though if you start by checking out his most recent work here on VCH:
