Funky Friday Vol. 9
I don't know about you but once the heat hits 3 digits, the novelty of summer seems to diminish for me and I need to avoid the sun like the plague. But I hope as the 4th is approaching everyone is flocking to a beach or a lake this weekend to enjoy the way our independence was meant to be enjoyed: drinking on the water (if it was safe to swim around the East River you know I would be there). But since I can't make my way up the coast into Maine this until Tuesday, I made sure to keep myself fully equipped with PBR's in the fridge to fend off the heat before heading to see RAC at the Brooklyn Bowl. So with that said, I figured why not start out with a Felix Da Housecat's great new edit of a Remix Artist Collective recent EP single to start off? Alongside RAC and Felix Da Housecat, we got some great new work from some exciting names for you tonight. So loosen the tie (it's Friday for christ sakes) and enjoy what is surely to be a great weekend:
Spinning some Felix Da Housecat is nearly always a sure shot to get people in a good mood. This recent remix of RAC's most recent record,"Hollywood". It's a pretty easy going remix but it's perfect for poolside or beach side when you're just in the mood to rage:
Another big fish in the dance music pond has gotta be Oliver right now. Oliver, so hot right now, Oliver. These two dudes have been on a producing and remixing frenzy and they are not to be confused with Oliver Twizt:
Speaking of big names, I am becoming sure that Fire Flowerz will eventually become real relevant in the EDM game in general as they have already made a strong niche within the Nu-Disco and the Funky House world. This most recent track "Sugar" is a sweet one (a happy-good sweet as opposed to say mortal obesity):
This next Sneaky Sound System remix by Plastic Plates is another feel good disco track built for afternoons outside:
Country Club is another up and coming name you should be sure to put on your radar:
