Ultra Sounds + Feel Good Anthems

I've already wept for days watching the live feeds of Ultra and hearing about everyone's amazing experiences. I would like to put what I've missed behind me after this post and just focus on how much better June's Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas will be than Ultra. Suck it. This first track is JP Candela's remix of "Kids". Don't know how you can't like this. It was dropped by a few DJ's at ultra, and my brother sent me a video of it being performed at ultra.

Also, I just came across this song last night and I am in love with it. "Reach For Me" by Dinka itself is a great original track, but this remix fucking blows it out of the water. It was released near the end of 2011 so it is a little bit old, but it's a sick song.

Haunting Sound

Apologies for my overdue post here children, the Mediterranean has been too good to me. Back at you nonetheless with a few new great chunes from a couple of familiar faces. Hujje, who are now getting as big as their name describes them, dropped "Haunting Me" this week and it's flying off the shelves. It's a progressive record you must have:

Also Bingo Players keep coming full force after an amazing set at Ultra they released this great new edit to the Carl Tricks original "Mad Dash". I currently have it playing and I hope you love it as much as I do; if not find a different blog to read:

And then one from a man who's name I haven't heard in some time now... Tom Piper! New track from Piper and tagging up on the record is Daniel Farly. The song is called "L.G.F.U.".... if you don't understand the acronym you will shortly into the song...

Chocolate Puma has very much been on my radar as of lately though I know they aren't newcomers to the block. But you just can't say no to their sound. For me personally they are one of the most versatile and unique groups I have listened to. Give these two guys from Amsterdam a shot if you haven't already (they're from Amsterdam!!):

Songs You Probably Haven't Heard... But They Bang

I would literally kill someone to be at Ultra right now in Miami. It's going to be a sick weekend and it sucks knowing I won't be there, but here are some tunes for your weekend and possibly your pregame for Ultra each day. All these songs are old, some older than others. However, I still listen to each and every one of them to this day. Check all of them out, your sure to find one you like.

This first one is by a duo that continually produces hard hitting remixes of classic songs. "Return of the Mack" is a classic funk song by Mark Morrison. Spencer and Hill show us that any song can be turned into a banger.

Zedd + Tim Mason = yep. anthem

If you are into trance music, this song is for you. Adam K and Soha bring soothing vocals that will bring you through your memories.

"In the Air" doesn't have vocals, and it doesn't need it. This beat fucking slams. It gets me pumped up.

"Kiss My Lips" is another production of the famous DJ Kue. He brought us the pumped up kicks remix which was sick. The vocals in this song go very well with the beat. Party song.

This last one is my personal favorite. Its a true anthem. The vocals are awesome and they are paired with an even better progression from Alex Gaudino.

Enjoy.

Pierce Fulton is the Man

I'm sorry for the extended period of inactiveness recently, but I've been in Florida playing baseball on spring break. This new Pierce Fulton mix should quench your hunger for a new mix from an amazing up and coming DJ from the USA, Pierce Fulton. He broke onto the scene quickly with his banger "Lay Right Here", and he has continually risen in the house scene since then. This March 2012 mix features some of his hits, remixes, and other tunes from various artists. Look for "Pardon my French" near the end, it's one of his original mixes, and one of my personal favorites. It's still available for download on sound cloud for free. Grab a pair of good headphones or good speakers and bump (track list below)...

Survival of the Fittest

My man Barret Nelson is back with another lethal hour long dubstep mix under his alias Fraggle Beach. Watch out for this kid in the time to come. His mixes have really had some weight to them and have a very distinct style and sound to them to prove this kid isn't just throwing a few wobble chunes together and calling it a mix. It's an hour long test of survival... some of you may not make it:

Squad Up, Fellers

New Clockwork EP - "Squad Up"

Clockwork has a very interesting sound. The Los Angeles native has seen a steady rise in his popularity throughout the last few years, and he has continued to reel in more and more fans with each song he comes out with. I actually went to a neighboring high school in LA and it's really nice to see a local doing it real big in the EDM world. I remember hearing his very early work back in high school, and while I was pretty impressed, I'll be honest, I didn't knwo he would get this good, but he has really impressed me throughout the last few years. His new EP, "Squad Up", consists of 7 tracks, all of which are pretty good. My favorites are Clockwork's vocal edit of "Squad Up", and the Dillon Francis edit of "Hulk". Check all 7 songs out, you're bound to find one to bump to.

A-Trak, Nuff Said

Every time A-Trak comes out with something new, I immediately download it. He rarely disappoints. A-Trak's new song, "The Night Out", is a dirty remix of Martin Solveig's original track.

For those that know Solveig, they know he's pretty damn solid himself, and the original is a pretty sick track. But A-Trak's remix brings a filthier drop that if heard in a dance scene or concert would be sure to set that shit off. It has a good, intense build up that just drops into a dirty electro beat. A-trak is a super talented DJ that really knows how to mix in vocals well but still give listeners a drop to vibe to.

Party>Sleep

Dada Life, personality wise, would never strike me as two guys on top of the EDM world. To be honest they seem more like they should be in a psychiatric ward. Their music reflects it and goddmanit I love it. Its not dance music, its bounce and break shit music. I dare you to try and stay calm, cool and collected through an entire Dada Life set. It's scientifically impossible. All the greater news is I am seeing them this weekend at Sensation Belgium along with Afrojack, Mr. White, Sander Van Doorn, Daniel & Juan Sanchez, and Mark Knight. And to add on top of that I am going straight from the end of the concert back to Barcelona, no sleep (that shit is for panzies). So the fact that the Dada duo released a meannnn (I make take your lunch money then kick you in the shin kind of mean) is simply a bonus to what is sure to be an unforgettable weekend.

Angger Dimas & Bassjackers - RIA
Kenneth G - Bazinga (Original Mix)
Kaskade ft. Skylar Grey - Room For Happiness (Gregori Klosman Remix)
Dimitri Vangelis & Wyman - Roll The Dice
Steve Aoki - Ladida (Tommy Trash Instrumental Remix)
Felix Cartal - Domo
Wolfgang Gartner - There and Back
Yves V - Mandala
Style Of Eye - Devastate
Bobby Burns - Next
Chuckie - Together
Tomcraft - Taco
Bingo Players - L'Amour
Skrillex & The Doors - Breakn' A Sweat (Zedd Remix)

Speaking of being agressive, Bart B More and Felix Cartel dropped "Cascade" today and that deeppp bass just sucks you in right from the beginning. Expect it to be on a lot of big name DJ's setlists:

For those of you already lacking on sleep I got some chunes for you that may be a little easier on the brain. SBTRKT just released a very laidback track "surely" which has some great snare drums that really drew me into it. And Sébastien Léger gave a nice little remix to Format B's original "Atomizer". Both tracks you can slow the body down to a little and groove:

We All Need the Swedes

Swedish House Mafia blows my mind every time they come out with a new track. They never fuck it up. Every new track they release is a musical masterpiece that draws fans from all over the world for a listen. Greyhound fits right into that description. Absolut vodka, another Swedish product, teamed up with the 3-headed team and filmed a sick music video that is sure to create a big buzz. Check out the damn the song, you won't be disappointed. Music Video is below. Some next level shit.

Michael Calfan Does it Again

Michael Calfan -- "Mozaik"

For those that heard his massive release a few months back, "When You Got Love", or "Resurrection", you know that Michael Calfan has the ability to produce straight up bangers. He is an up and coming master of the progressive house sound, and his new release "Mozaik" is sure to turn heads as he continues to grab the attention of more EDM fans. He just released a preview of his new track and will be releasing the full version soon via Stealth Records. Stay tuned...

Laidback Luke Review

The man born in the Phillipines and raised in Holland now is the man that can proudly say he runs Dutch House music. Though we can confess that LL has gone "mainstream" that in no way means his music has faltered to cater to the masses. I believe it is only getting better with time has he continues to develope, revamp, and innovate his sound with every new release. Sure, in some ways dance music in America has tainted the original idea of the essence of dance music but I truly believe Laidback Luke continues to preserve what is right about dance music nowadays; and goddamn did he prove that at Sutton the other week.

If you didnt already know, Sutton is one of the finest clubs in all the world and its settled right here in Barcelona of the lively street Avenue Diagonal. It's chique and slender structure inside reminds you something out of a Miami nightclub circa 1970. The plush couches with the squared off tables that surround the dance floor give it a pit like feeling for when the big time dj's come through the place. This would lead to quite the crowd on the dancefloor for the man of the night.

After the chaotic and riotous line outside the club we finally got in and were able to watch the opening DJ's last 15 minutes. Much respect to him (forgot his name) for keeping the set a little reserved to not take away from LL while still getting the crowd pumped up for the big moment of the night.

So Laidback came on stage and he wasted no time getting the crowd crazy throughing down "No Beef" and then "Rattle" by Steve Aoki & Afrojack and then Bingo Players respectively. Then what was one of my highlights of the night was his crazy rendition of Dada Life's "Kick Out the Epic Motherfucker" including some killer scratching on the CDJ's (see video below). It was that moment that I'm pretty sure everyone lost it in Sutton. Luke then continued with some bangers like "Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll" by Tommy Trash and then a great back to back mix of "Internet Friends" by Knife Party then "Antidote" by SHM and Knife Party (see below). He obviously spun plenty of his own goodness like his remix of "Give Me All Your Love", "Turbulence", and his remix of "Don't Turn Off the Lights". But he also threw in some tracks you would have never guessed to be in his set such as "Wonderwall" and "Under The Bridge". He had everyone singing along (though not exactly in harmony) and it really captured the spirit and enjoyment everyone had seeing such an amazing and eccentric talent come to Barcelona.
